this movie ruined me... i loved it so much but this is a film you only watch once. lilja is a 16 yr old in a struggling post-soviet community and her world starts to crumble as the people around her abandon her. it's a harrowing tale of the realities of poverty and sex work and a girl betrayed by the whole world. i loved this film so much but it killed me. |

ritual is an arthouse movie about two young people; a nameless film-maker who has lost his spark, and a mentally ill woman who repeats the same rituals daily, including saying 'tomorrow is my birthday'. taking place over 33 days, it's meant to be very repetitive and it's full of symbolism and pulls you into this womans world. |

this book should be considered a feminist classic! woman at point zero is a story about a woman on death row, who tells the tale of her life the night before she is set to executed. firdaus has a story that is a painful reality for many woman, full of explotation, abuse and oppression. she is punished again and again for expressing her autonomy, but finds freedom in her death as an escape. |

i love historical fiction so bad...this is a beautifully written story of lesbian desire and generational trauma and war and the memories held in a house! i could not put it down once i picked it up. i really like how it explores the lines between desire/disgust and power dynamics in a post-war setting. |
